Vision and Success, is your Fitness Business Ready?

I can see clearly now! Can you? No I am not talking about the great song by Jimmy cliff I am talking about your fitness business.
Do you know your numbers? In Napoleon Hill’s book The Laws of Success he has 16 rules. For us fitness entrepreneurs rule #11 Accurate Thought is a critical rule. The accurate thinker deals with facts no matter how they might make him feel or look in the immediate future. So when I ask do you know your numbers maybe the first question should be do you know what numbers you should be looking at?
What are the numbers that are going to let you know that what you are doing to try and grow your fitness business is working? This is where accurate thought comes in, we all think that something that we do is really effective and it is helping us grow our fitness business but can we prove it? Do we have numbers that show us conclusively that if we do this then we will be able to get 1,2,3 new clients?
This isn’t always an easy task so here are some tips that you can use to help you be able to see your business clearly and easily.
- Have a daily meeting, I got this from the Rockefellers habits and even if it is just you in your business having a quick update on your business allows you to step back and see what is happening in the big picture.
- Have forward looking and backward looking KPIs, key performance indicators. You may not know what these numbers are at first but by starting to look at them regularly you will learn what numbers make a difference in your business.
- Look for the bad news, if a client quits go out of your way to get specific feedback from them and then reward them for it send a birthday massage or a free class or assessment for them to pass on or even a card at your local coffee company. Clients quit and that is a normal part of our business but the more you can learn from them the better you can make your business.
- Respect what you inspect, whether you have employees or it is just you this phrase is true. You can say that something is really important to you, for example, your clients losing weight but if you never weigh them they won’t be as accountable and they won’t have as much success. What about saying that you want to have 5 new clients by the end of the month? Are you looking at the number of new leads every day? The number that attended a class? The number that purchased? You aren’t going to magically have 5 new clients at the end of the month you are going to have to promote (get new leads), sell (have clients come to class) and over deliver (have them sign up because they are so impressed).
No matter how good you are not every person that you get as a lead will turn into a client so learning what your conversion rates are enables you to start to create those forward looking KPIs so that you can achieve what you dream!
