Studio Management Software: Where is the money?

Ever finish a 60hr work week just to look at your bank account and wonder, “where’s the money?”

That was us back in 2003 before we developed our studio management software. We were doing what we loved, training our clients. But we realized that we also loved taking vacations, eating out once in a while and paying our rent. Something had to change. We couldn’t possibly work any harder so we had to find a system that would allow us to work smarter.

That proved to be difficult. None of the studio management software we found suited the specific needs of our industry. We didn’t want to adapt programs designed for restaurants or shoe stores. It quickly became apparent that if we wanted studio management software that related to our gym we would need to build it ourselves.

So we did.

From the moment of inception Volo studio management software has been designed to maximize profits and ease the administrative burden for small to mid-sized fitness facilities like ours. We get paid based on how many sessions our clients complete so we knew our studio management software would need to accurately track and invoice each of our members. And it would have to work across our entire system and integrate with the real world inside our business where clients often expand their workouts by taking a yoga class or a spinning workshop. We wanted to avoid stagnation by having studio management software that works over the web. And we didn’t want to limit the scope of the program, we wanted it to be expandable.

And it has expanded. The Volo system that has evolved from our original studio management software is far more advanced. But right from the start we knew we were on the right track. When we first entered three months of data into our prototype we found $5000 in missed sales! That explained the empty bank account.

As Volo grew we found more and more tasks for our new studio management software to handle. Our business grew, our bank balance grew, trainers loved it, clients loved it, we felt more relaxed and had more time to pursue other interests and opportunities. Before long we had reached the seven figure mark in sales and had 20 trainers working for us.

We decided to take Volo to the masses because it felt great to empower other fitness companies with the best studio management software on the market. This way we’re still part of the fitness evolution and can provide other with the same tools that made our lives so much easier.
