Studio Management Software | What About My Workouts?

When we opened Momentum Fitness we did not use any studio management software and we worked crazy long hours. It seemed like if I was not with a client I was trying to get more clients and then managing the studio in my spare time.

Studio management includes stocking and cleaning change rooms, scheduling and billing clients, tracking clients’ sessions and updating their files, accounting and business reporting, phone calls and returning emails, hiring and training staff, payroll and staff accountability are all necessary duties of studio management.

By year three of this I was seeing myself getting out of shape and starting to use the excuses that my clients used to not exercise:

  • I am too busy
  • I have no time
  • I will train later when it slows down
  • I just need to finish this one thing
These were all excuses and none were actual reasons for my deteriorating health.

When I looked at the list studio management duties I said, what can I do to find time to get my own training on track?

I wanted to run the Vancouver marathon so as a 220lb weight lifter this was not going be easy. I was built for short distance, stocky, thick and lots of power. Now the only hitch was I didn’t want to hire a person not just because they are expensive but mostly because I am a control freak. I wanted my business to run my way. So hiring was out.

I took the top things on my list of studio management duties and said came to the realization that really good studio management software should be able to do those items for me. The first version of Volo studio management software was created the year 2003 and it was the best thing I ever did for my business. Soon friends that owned gyms were coming up and wanting to use our studio management software. Now these are personal trainers and entrepreneurs so you can imagine the ego, control and the need to have software do it their way was very high. This was perfect for Volo because I did not want studio management software that mimicked my business for my friends; I wanted to give them the control so the studio management software was flexible to meet their business needs.

Studio Management Software beware

By 2008 Volo became the best studio management software on the market hands down. One of the key reasons is because we don’t tell you how to run your business we provide studio management software that adapts to you.

  • You want to bill once a week for 13 weeks, no problem Volo studio management software does that
  • You want clients to book yoga online but not training, no problem Volo studio management software does that
  • You want to sell package and unlimited memberships no problem Volo studio management software does that
  • You want to have packages automatically renew when they expire no problem Volo studio management software does that
  • You want to collect money automatically when packages renew no problem Volo studio management software does that

It is your business run to your way.

So what has implementing a fantastic adaptable studio management software done for my training?

Well I ran the 2004 Vancouver marathon plus I have done NY three times, San Francisco, Vancouver again, Sea to Sky two day adventure race, the Florida Ironman and next month I will do the Victoria ½ Ironman (I am slowing down at 41). I did all these races while running a fitness company that now employs over 25 trainers and I co-founded Volo.

Studio Management software MarathonThe only regret I had was that I did not implement studio management software on day one of starting my business.

My question for you is what is stopping you from implementing the most powerful studio management software? Sign up today and start your next big adventure, whether that is training for a race or to starting the next big fitness business. Remember no limits.
