Like all personal trainers growing their businesses, I am constantly on the lookout for new clients. Over the years I have learned that the best way to find new clients isn’t expensive, in fact it’s free. All you need to do is commit some time, and some effort, and watch your business grow without any withdrawals from your bank account.

Are you ready for 7 free ways to get more clients for your fitness business?

  1.  Craigslist and Kijiji – Post ads on Craigslist and Kijiji daily for low cost high value promotions. You will be able to find lots of people looking for a weight loss or boot camp program in your area. Post in the beauty, personal training, tutoring, or lessons areas. If you are using an online studio software you can have your prospects book a free assessment with you
  2. Social Media – If you don’t know what Facebook and Twitter are yet, then you need to get yourself educated! Social media is the way forward. Many companies are maximizing on this free resource. You will be amazed at the new clients you can find. Look for search keywords on Twitter like #weightloss or #personaltraining. Don’t have time to sit on Twitter all day? Try a free online program like Hoot Suite to schedule your postings.
  3. Blog – Writing blogs is no longer a nerdy thing to do.  They are a genius way to market your business. Write a blog about fitness and health tips, make your blog searchable, and you will get worldwide exposure. Choose keywords like health or fitness and use them in every blog posting. Make sure you commit to your blogging, make posts regular, and make sure they contain useful information for your readers.
  4. Human Billboards – Your current clients are free advertising! Always deliver amazing results, and stay connected with your clients through text, email, Facebook, etc. The better your relationship with your clients, the more willing they will be to refer you to friends. Keep their information on hand in online studio management software that you can access from anywhere.
  5. Referral incentives – Ask your best clients (the ones you’ve formed such awesome relationships with) to refer anyone they know. Offer something in return, a free session, gift cards, whatever you can afford. Or make it a condition of signing up for training with you. You will be surprised how many people are willing to spread the word, especially if you deliver noticeable results for them. Use studio management software to track these referrals.
  6. Promotions – Offer promotions to local businesses that serve your prospective clients or target market. In return for marketing your business, offer free training sessions, or to market for them as well.  Make good relationships with local related business. And always remember, give more and before than you receive.
  7. Email – No one uses snail mail anymore, so don’t waste any money printing out flyers and mailing them. Use studio software to send out email newsletters to any prospective clients. Put together a nice sign up incentive. Link all your newsletters to your website and blog, and make sure you put in the options for people to find you on Facebook and Twitter.  Schedule these newsletters using online studio software, so you can spend more time training all your new clients.
  8. SMS Coupons (almost free)– You can schedule SMS coupons to be sent out to prospective and new clients using online studio software.  Collect contact leads in your system, and send out text messages including coupons or promotions to your prospective clients.
