I love owning a Fitness Business!

Yesterday a friend sent me this picture and it really got me thinking about what we take for granted in the Fitness Industry and what kids are missing out on growing up in this digital world that caters more and more to their metal abilities and less to their physical abilities.

Fitness BusinessI decided that I wanted to create a list for the “Fitness School of Success”.

What do you think the top ten should be?

Here is my list I encourage everyone to add or make their own lists and post them everywhere you can.
Top 10 Rules For Fitness Your Kids Do Not Learn in School:

  1. People will not be there to lift things for you all the time
  2. Exercise needs to be daily not every second Tuesday
  3. Balanced meals do not come from buffet cafeterias
  4. Girls do not get bulky lifting weights three times a week
  5. There are no time outs in real life -  you cannot just call time out and expect everyone to stop and wait for you to catch your breath
  6. The real world has more stairs and hills in it then the school does
  7. Reading all the books in the world will not make you fit, you actually need to go and do something
  8. The Biggest Loser is a TV show, a bad one at that, and no one should aspire to be on it
  9. Playing a video game is not the same as actually playing a sport, even if it a Kinetic or a Wii interactive game
  10. Over 7 million people will die of some form of heart disease this year and majority of these are preventable with regular exercise

For 2012 I hope that we as Fitness Professionals can get this viral and see if we can change some children’s lifestyle habits before it is too late.

Let's put a stop to the obesity that is now dominating their lives.

I think this is brilliant! Something the schools should perhaps add to their curriculum.
